One of the things that I always find amazing is what charities or programs people support. Each year, for the past many years Lake Arrowhead residents Joyce Savage and Polly Sauer have participated in a long challenge walk to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research. These two women deserve so much credit for doing everything possible to support research and understanding of this dreadful disease that robs so many people of the lives they have known.
That being said this truly “Dynamic Duo” have scheduled a big fundraiser on Sunday evening, August 10 to raise money to help fight this debilitating disease.
The evening will feature appetizers, a silent auction, a no-host bar and only a $5 cover charge. These two local women have participated in this walk for many years and throughout the years they have raised an enormous amount of money (through pledges from friends and family) for the national Multiple Sclerosis Society.
On Sunday, August 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. a fundraising event will be held at “The Grapevine” in Lake Arrowhead Village. Appetizers, a silent auction and a no-host bar will be featured at this great establishment. A portion of the night’s sales will be donated to the fight against this dreadful and debilitating disease.
Reservations must be made by Friday, August 8 so call (909) 337-7573. Reservations can also be secured by logging onto: email@example.com. If you can’t attend the function but would like to help these two wonderful, loving, giving women raise funds log onto: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/goto/mschievous moose.
People give of their love, their money and their energy to different causes and their determination often comes from experiences their family members or friends are experiencing. Sadly, they see first hand the devastation that affects the victims of terrible disease. While so many strides have been made to solve and irradiate so many diseases multiple sclerosis is one of those that is still around and it proves to be devastating to the victim as well as their family and friends.Polly and Joyce have a unique name for their fundraising team: “Mischievous Moose.” I’ll have to find out the background on that because I bet there’s a great story involved.
The National MS Society is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Like all non-profits it depends on donations to continue the work to hopefully eradicate MS. The organization also needs funds to continue to be able to offer support and advice to those who have the disease as well as their family members and friends.
Supporting this Walk-aThon these two wonderful mountain women will soon be doing is one way you can help make a change. Even if you can’t donate very much it all ads up.
I send my best to these two wonderful women who will join many other “walker” when they make the long trek. Hopefully at some point there will be a light at the end of the tunnel for this disease and I hope Joyce and Polly can look back on their decision to do what they can to help the cause.
