If you love a great BBQ, bluegrass music and Bingo you’ve just gotta be at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church for a fundraiser at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27. The talented local bluegrass mountain group, “Grits and Grady” will be performing, award-winning wine from Woodworth Vineyards in Temecula will be there for “tasting” (and for sale, as well), there will be delicious mouth-watering pulled pork and chicken sandwiches (or a veggie sandwich for those who are vegetarians).
Free crafts and carnival games will also keep children happy and they’ll be Bingo for the adults. What about chili, I hear you screaming?! Well, they’ll be six delectable chili delights to taste as part of the chili cookoff. Taste and then vote for your favorite.
A live auction as well as silent auctions will also be held so this is a great way to pick up some early holiday gifts to stash away until Christmas comes along in (eek!) three months. One of the really interesting and enticing features of this great event will be the opportunity to bid on a fabulous dinner at the lovely home of a couple who attend St. Richard’s.
Theparishoners at St. Richard’s hope that everyone will come…not just church members……this event will be great fun so come and enjoy. Bring the kids. They’ll be plenty for the children to do (besides eating the yummy BBQ!). When Grits ‘n Grady play young children love to dance to their music so be sure to bring them. They’ll have a great time and mom and dad can dance with their children too! I have been to many ‘Grits ‘n Grady” concerts and events and you can’t help but dance (or at least tap your feet) to their music. Think of it as your aerobic exercise for the day! If you’re not into aerobics think of the toe tapping as a new way of doing morse code.
The local music group was formed a few years ago and the members of this lively Celtic group are all fulltime or part-time residents of Green Valley Lake. This community, which for decades has been known as a quiet retreat for musicians and people in the entertainment industry, comes alive in the summer when concerts are given by the lake and events are held at the “park.” People, including many celebrities and musicians can “get away from it all” can “unwind” in this lovely setting . Sometime when you want to take a drive, go up and visit Green Valley Lake, especially if you want some “quiet time” after the summer fun is over.
St. Richard’s Episcopal Church is located on Hwy. 18 in Skyforest near “Lou and Eddie’s” and the other restaurants and shops in Willow Woods.
