An Update From Caltrans For Hwy. 18 “Arctic Circle” Road Closure

Caltrans logo Yesterday, October 9, I received an update from Caltrans on the closure of Hwy. 18 between Snow Valley and the Big Bear Dam.

Hwy. 18 will be completely open on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, while State Route 38 will be closed for a permit project to install a pedestrian bridge by the Boy Scouts. The Hwy. 18 road closure will go back into effect on Thursday, October 16 for the remainder of the work schedule (until the end of next month). Remember, from Snow Valley to the Big Bear Dam Caltrans will be working to remove boulders from the “Arctic Circle” before winter sets in. Hwy. 18 from Snow Valley to the Big Bear Dam will remain open on Fridays for the duration of the Caltrans project.
