Crestline property owners and residents need to know that this weekend, October 25 and 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. crews from San Bernardino County will be in Crestline for “Chipper Days.” This free service is available to anyone who takes branches, bushes or other flammable wood to the lot next to the Crestline Chamber of Commerce office where it will be ground up, for free. The crews will also haul away the “chips” without charge.
It is extremely important that homeowners, renters and business people be diligent with keeping yards, driveways and other areas around homes and businesses as clear of potentially dangerous “fuels” as possible. This free service, offered by the county, will help residents get dead trees, branches, bushes and other flammable wood off their property, at least for the upcoming year.
Fire season is already here and keeping fuels that help start or help continue a fire to grow need to be reduced as much as possible so all mountain residents and visitors need to be “on their toes” this fire season year.
Remember, it’s better to be prepared than to be surprised!
