It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful people are and Randy and his staff at Blondie’s restaurant in Arrowbear Lake are hosting a fundraiser to honor the late Steve Cannata and to help his family after his recent sudden death.
Steve was the president of the Arrowbear Lions club and each year, for years, the organization’s annual Christmas party was held at the Hwy. 18 restaurant. Each year the menu was the same: shrimp cocktail, delicious prime rib, green beans, potatoes and truffle cake. To honor his memory and to raise funds for his widow Pam Blondie’s will serve a fundraising dinner complete with Steve’s favorite meal.
This special fundraising dinner will be held on Sunday, November 23 and the “Steve Special” will be available from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. This promises to be a big event so reservations are highly recommended by calling the restaurant at (909) 867-9000. The proceeds will be deposited into the Steve Cannata account at First Mountain Bank in Running Springs.
Thank you to Randy and his entire staff for their generosity in hosting this event. I know Steve’s family and friends appreciate the generous gesture. One of the joys of living in a small community is getting to see, on such a personal basis, the loving generosity of people who care about their friends and neighbors that they’ve known for decades. This event is one of those special events although his family and friends are saddened that the fundraiser to honor their loving friend or family member has to be held at all.
Steve was a wonderful, loving, caring, funny, determined man and we, his friends and family (especially his wife Pam), miss him and always will.
The charge for this delicious fundraiser is only $30 and the prime rib alone is worth the price of admission.
