On December 6, immediately following the always-exciting, fun, colorful Blue Jay Christmas Parade, the recreation district will host their annual open house. Plan to attend and bring the kids who will love the hot chocolate, free games and crafts as well as a holiday gift raffle. There will be free coffee for the grown-ups. Items for the drawing will include Snow Valley tickets, delicious holiday treats and as an extra highlight all the children will enjoy a free visit with Santa himself. Santa has promised to make this event one of the earliest of his Christmas rounds so everyone is very grateful because, after all, he does have such a busy schedule this time of year.
From 2:30 to 5 p.m. Santa, with his on-the-go workshop, will be staged in the district’s dance and fitness studio which is located next door to the main office. Just so you know, for a fundraiser for the district photos with Santa will be available at $12 per digital copy for high-resolution edited images that can be downloaded within a week. The proceeds will go to the district’s dance and gymnastics programs.
In addition to the open house the district’s childcare program will host a holiday fundraiser to help support the childcare and day camp programs. They are asking everyone for their support, if at all possible, by donating high ticket items such as mountain bikes, cookware or home appliances, cords of woods, concert or sport game tickets, gift certificates or any other items that would be great raffle prizes. The district thanks Snow Valley for already participating. The raffle will be held during the open house, around 4:30 p.m. If you can donate please contact Christy McKenzie at (909) 337-7275. Raffle prizes must be donated by Friday, Dec. 5 at noon and all donors will receive a receipt for their generosity.
The park district office is located at 26577 State Highway 18 in Rimforest. For information call (909) 336-5239.
