It’s that time of year again……………..it’s time to light the community Christmas Tree in Running Springs. This year Santa has scheduled a stop in our local community just to help light up the tree and rumor has it that he’s going to stick around to listen to children’s Christmas wishes. (Isn’t Santa wonderful?) On Friday night, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. children and their parents should wear really warm clothes and go to Holiday Lane (above the Coffee Sh0p to Online Ski and Snowboard Rental Shop). There will be hot chocolate, caroling through town, hot cider, treats for the children, merchant discounts at local shops and lots of holiday spirit. All the children from Running Springs, Arrowbear Lake and Green Valley Lake are welcome to enjoy all the fun and participate
These events are sponsored by the Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber happily works with the communities of Running Springs, Arrowbear Lake and Green Valley Lake so everyone from these communities should be sure to attend the tree lighting ceremony. The Community Christmas Tree began being decorated back in the 1960s so come enjoy the continuity of this special event and stick around to sing some Christmas carols.
Also, here’s something new for children to participate in the fun of the upcoming Christmas holidays. Parents, have your children hand draw a picture of Santa on an 8.5 by 11 inch piece of plain paper. Make sure the children sign their name on the back with their grade and phone number. Gift cards for winners of the preschool through Kindergarten category as well as grades 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and grade five will receive gift cards to Toys R Us. All artwork must be turned tin to Kids Corner Preschool on Hunsaker Drive, the Cut Above on Hilltop Blvd. on Hilltop Blvd. or First Mountain Bank (by the U.S. Post Office and children’s playground). The deadline for all submissions is December 3. The gift cards and baskets are being donated by First Mountain Bank, Snow Valley Ski Resort, Kids Korner preschool, Running Springs Escrow and Misty’s Hilltop Shop on Hilltop Blvd.
For information call the Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce at (909) 867-2411.
Parents…remember to take a camera so you can take photos. Everyone should bundle up as it is always cold (after all it is December in the mountains…with or without snow!)
