Fascinating Local History on Cajon Pass: Meeting March 15 in Crestline

Noted San Bernardino County historian and the author of hundreds of history articles that have been published in the San Bernardino Sun, Nick Cataldo will be the guest speaker on Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. in Crestline.The topic: the fascinating history of the Cajon Pass!

Sponsored by the Rim of the World Historial Society, this exciting event will be held at the Leisure Shores senior Center that is located on the shore of Lake Gregory. The address for this venue is 24658 San Moritz Drive.

Cataldo is the president of the San Bernardino Pioneer and Historical Society and in addition to his fascinating history columns in the San Bernardino Sun, he is the author of several books including “The Earp Clan in Southern California” which, obviously deals with Wyatt Earp and his brothers. Since Wyatt Earp ended up being the first sheriff of San Bernardino County.

This presentation will feature information on the history of Devil’s Canyon which was the logging route from Cedar Pines Park through the mountains. Through this interesting presentation attendees will learn about the many routes through the “Gateway to Southern California” (the Cajon Pass) that has been used for over 200 years.
