Love to fish? If so, grab that fishing pole, make sure you’ve got bait and head to the summer kickoff of events at Lake Gregory with a Trout Derby. The fun will be held Saturday, April 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The really big news is that the grand prize for the winner will be $50,000 (yes, you read that correctly), $50,000.

Nine other tagged fish, with a minimum value of $250, will also be swimming in the lake, tempting participating anglers.

The entry fee is $25 and there is limited space available. Reserve your spot before it’s too late. Derby check in begins at 6:30 a.m. at the North Shore Boat House.

Huge raffle prizes will be given out at the 3:30 p.m. awards ceremony. It should really be exciting because everyone is entered to win. Prizes for these lucky winners (not so lucky for the fish) are being donated by Toyota of San Bernardino, Honda Yamaha of Redlands and Goodwin’s Market.

Derby participants must be 18-year-old in order to participate and they must hold a valid California fishing license.
