With the big success of the first Park Appreciation Day that was held on April 11 another great event is planned for the Twin Peaks Ballfield from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. The children who attended last Saturday’s event had a fabulous time participating in potato sack races, relay races, a ton of fun and exciting games like “Fill Up the Water Cup”: and “Face the Cookie.” At the end of each game the winners received prize bags will with toys and treats and almost everyone won a prize.
The next (and final) Park Appreciation Day will be held at the Twin peaks ballfield which is located at 675 Grandview Road, this Saturday, April 18. The park district is expecting another big turnout and there will be more free games, popcorn, prizes, hot dogs and even a ballgame. Come out and watch the Mountain Little League play a game or two. You’ll enjoy every second and realize, once again, the beauties of living in tightly-held, small communities.
The Rim of the World Recreation and Park District takes great pride in caring for and maintaining their parks and facilities for the community to use. For more information contact the district office at (909) 337-7275 or send an e-mail to: info@rim-rec..org. Information will also be available on the district’s Facebook page.
These hometown events are always special. If you can leave without the feeling that living in small communities where people know each other so well is a privilege and definitely one of life’s great adventures perhaps you need to do some re-evaluation.
Come! Enjoy! Celebrate life and life in the mountain communities and the programs and special events that this small recreation district hosts. Those of us who are “oldies but goodies” remember years ago when there was no recreation and park district. For the most part the schools were the only sites with fields and programs were few and far between. When the mountain electorate approved the formation of the district, and as it grew, those of us who were there when it started are thankful for the great events and programs the district elected board members and staff brought and continue to bring to our local mountains. Come and celebrate and have a great day on Saturday, April 18.
See you there and you know the old saying, “be there or be square” but I’m changing it to “be there or miss out!”
