In case you didn’t know the Special Olympics World Games are coming to Lake Arrowhead and Blue Jay in July. The Lake Arrowhead area will host the contingent of athletes from Switzerland so if you hear yodeling you’ll know the athletes have arrived.
To celebrate and to welcome the Swiss contingnent a big parade will be held in Blue Jay at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the Opening Ceremonies.
Join in the Host Town celebration by marching together in the Special Olympics Host Town Parade. The grand marshal and mistress of ceremonies will be none other than “our own” beautiful singing celebrity beautiful Gloria Loring.
For this upcoming parade jot down on your calendar that Hwy. 189 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. so please plan to arrive early and get your best viewing location. If you show up late you’ll be walking a long way because the highway will be closed. The deadline to enter the parade is June 1 so make sure you register before the deadline or you’ll end up watching the parade from the sidelines rather than being a participant.
After the parade the opening ceremonies will be held but there will be more information available about the events soon.
Parade applications are available at: or call the Host Town Hotline at (909) 336-1547.
