The hated and very controversial Calfire fee that many people consider  is double taxation will be the focus of an upcoming telephone town hall meeting on Wednesday, May 13 from noon to 1 p.m.

This unique opportunity for mountain residents to be part of the process is being presented by Diane L. Harkey, California State Board of Equalization district four director. Other elected and non-elected officials that will be participating in this unique event will include George Runner, vice-chairman of the State Board of Equalization; Senator Mike Morrell of the 23rd Senate District and Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.

To participate in this unique phone event register at: or call 1-844-829-8353 by May 12.

The topics covered in this telephone townhall “meeting” will include: the California Fire Prevention Fee and it’s lawsuit update; fire fee refund procedures and legislation; property owners fire fees appeal rights; and getting the information they need. Do not reply to Fire Tax Protest .org as it is not monitored. For more information contact the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer’s Association. The mailing address is: 921 11st Street, Sacramento, Ca. 95814.

Thousands of California property owners who are living  in some remote areas are being  forced to pay the State of California an additional fee for fire protection. While most residents pay for fire service from their local fire department most people feel this fee is illegal and amounts to double taxation. Senator Morrell is actively involved in the process to try to have the fee abolished and he is not alone in that endeavor.
