The Arrowhead Area of the California Highway Patrol will be hosting a Child Safety Seat Event on May 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event will be held at Goodwin’s Market at 24089 Lake Gregory Drive in Crestline.
During the day there will be several “fitting stations” with nationally-certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians on hand. The trained personnel will evaluate child safety seats and give recommendations as well as to check for recalls. If a car seat is expired, recalled or is defective, and if parents meet certain requirements, a grant-funded seat may be awarded to the family, These seats are being made possible by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
This event is not just for parents with children but is also for parents-to-be. If you have a little one on the way and are unsure if your current car seat is installed correctly, or if you want some advice, please attend this important safety event.
When children under the age of eight are not properly secured in a vehicle, the parent or driver can receive a traffic citation in addition to “one point” on their driving record, reports the CHP.
