If you know a fabulous woman who has done a lot for her community you still have time to nominate her for Senator Mike Morrell’s “Annual Women of Distinction” Awards. Nominations must be submitted by June 29.
The senator says that acknowledging remarkable women for their contributions to the state and/or region has been an annual legislative tradition since 1987. Celebrations include weekly recognitions of women’s accomplishments. Celebrations include weekly recognitions of women’s accomplishments on the floors of both houses and the passage of resolutions commemorating Women’s History Month. This local event will also be the opportunity to discuss public policy issues and future legislation.
The senator is asking for your help in nominating amazing women you feel have truly made a difference through philanthropy, dedication and service to their community. Without your assistance and input, the Senator said that many women that deserve this day of recognition could go overlooked.
An electronic version of the nomination form can be obtained from the senator’s office or through his website. Feel free to share the nomination form with anyone you feel might know a woman who deserves to be donated. Senator Morrell reminds everyone that the cities he represents have changed and nominees should live or work in the cities or communities of Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, San Bernardino, Highland, Banning, Beaumont, Calimesa, Yucaipa, Big Bear City, Big Bear Lake, Loma Linda, Cedar Glen and Hemet.
Please try to nominate someone who has not been previously chosen. These women will be selected by a committee, so it is important that people who submit names include all pertinent information and attach a biography and photo if one is available. Nomination forms must be complete in order to be considered. “Last year’s recognition ceremony was a huge success. It is my hope that you will help make this one equally as great,” said the senator.
This years Women of Distinction event will be held at the historic Edwards Mansion at 2064 Orange Tree Lane in Redlands.
