I just received an update from Caltrans informing motorists that State Route 38 (SR38) closed early at approximately 1 a.m. today (Thursday, June 18) due to the fire burning in the San Bernardino National Forest. The fire began June 17 at approximately 4 p.m. and the road closure is from Angelus Oaks to Lake Williams.
The fire has burned more than 7,500 acres and by noon today (June 18) it was only five percent contained. Motorists are advised to use State Route 330 and State Route 18 as alternate routes to Big Bear and the areas above the Angeles Oaks communities.
