Do you know an excellent teacher who works in one of the schools in San Bernardino County? If so, the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools is now accepting applications for nominees for the California Teacher of the Year program. The deadline to submit names is August 7. On behalf of the California Department of Education the County Schools’ Human Resources department is coordinating the selection process for this year’s program.
San Bernardino County will coordinate the selection of one teacher for every 5,000 teachers in the county. Winners of the county competition will be entered in the state contest.
The same application materials are used for both the county and statewide Teachers of the Year programs. Materials, including program information, eligibility criteria and the application, are available through the California Department of Education’s website at: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/sr/ct.
With thousands of teachers who teach students each and every school day there are many teachers who could, and do, qualify for this prestigious award so if you know one, be sure to nominate them. Even the nominee you send in doesn’t walk away with the award the thought that they were nominated is often just as important are and they are grateful for being nominated.
