Well, if you love bugs or if you like to “bug” others you need to attend BugFest at the Victor Valley Museum and find out more about bugs and their importance to the planet. (Caution-small boys will love this event!) Everyone’s heard of Oktoberfest, or Brew Fest or festivals but very few people have probably heard of Bug Fest. Be prepared if you attend, the exhibit probably won’t feature beer (imported or local)!
Experience a hand-on adventure in the world of bugs at the Victor Valley Museum on August 15. This event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. so if you’re a bug enthusiast, don’t miss it.(You should FLY over there! before the exhibit closes!)
“The Victor Valley Museum’s annual Bug Fest provides an entertaining as well as fascinating educational experience which is likely to spark a profound curiosity for the world of bugs,” said Kristin Stevens of the San Bernardino County Museum education division. “This family-friendly event is packed with interactive and hands-on activities that promote an awareness of the importance and value of bugs in the environment”, she said.
BugFest, and the County Museum’s other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating the arts, culture and education in the county which will,in turn, create a better quality of life for residents and visitors.
The museum is located in Apple Valley, in the High Desert. Everyone who attends will experience a hands-on adventure and it is likely to be a fascinating event! Children and adults will spend the day (or at least a couple of hours) examining the kinds of bugs people are apt to see around their house or yard (or both). An exciting interactive bug show will be held at 11:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. This event will feature “Dr. Sue the Bug Lady!” The admission fee is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors or the military and $2.50 for students. Children under five and members of the San Bernardino County Museum Association are free. Parking is also free.
The museum is located at 11873 Apple Valley Road in Apple Valley. The site is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.
