In addition to the fabulous upcoming Green Valley Lake Aquathon that will be held the small community at the top of Green Valley Lake Road will be alive with booths, a chili cookoff and BBQ at the Community Garden. There will be free music at the community garden on Green Valley Lake Road. Come and pend a while and enjoy the fabulous music from the “Highland Pickers.” (They’re fabulous…and trust me….you’ll love the music!). There’s no charge for this fun outdoor concert that I promise will be fabulous so stick around and enjoy a great BBQ and the music. Be sure to bring a sweater as it might turn chilly
Due to the aquathon, swimming and fishing will not be allowed in the lake (other than by aquathon participants). Other fun aquathon celebration events will include a chili cookoff from 10:30 a.m. to 1p.m. at the Green Valley Community Garden which is located directly across from the lake. The fun day will include music by the Highland Pickers (also at the community garden and there will also be local craft booths to tempt your wallet. Before leaving home you might want to throw a folding chair into the trunk of your car so you can be assured of a place to sit for the aquathon and just sittin’ by the lake enjoying the ambiance and cool breezes of this community that is located about the 7,000 foot altitude in the San Bernardino Mountains
The fun starts with a free kids race after the aquathon race and it will be a small run next to the lake. Obviously the children’s event will not be nearly as long as the “adult run.”
See you there. Drive up Green Valley Lake Road (off Hwy. 18) and climb up the beautiful, often shady, road that leads to Green Valley Lake.
