Caltrans Emergency Work on I-15 Begins Sept. 8

Caltrans District 8 is advising motorists that a short-term emergency slab replacement project will begin on Interstate 15 (I-15) between Sierra Avenue and Kenwood Avenue (between Fontana and the Cajon Pass).

The nighttime work is at various locations in both directions and the work begins on Tuesday, September 8. The work will continue through Friday, September 11 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Blanco Construction will be doing the work for the $270,000 Director’s Order. The program will replace slabs that are in poor condition before the 2winter months.

Motorists can expect additional land closures in the construction zone. At least one land will be ope at all times in either direction of travel. Two other projects are ongoing on the I-15 in the Devore/Cajon Pass area to replace deteriorated pavement and to rebuild the interchange at the I-15/215.

Caltrans is cautioning motorists to plan ahead, to check traffic conditions and add extra time to a trip through the Cajon Pass during the emergency work.
