It seems impossible but the Rim of the World Recreation and Park District is celebrating its 30th year serving the Rim of the World communities. I remember when my late husband and I moved up to Running Springs so many years ago that there was no park and recreation district, no fields (other than the fields at the schools) and few programs for children let alone adults.
All that changed 30 years ago when voters approved a measure that provided funding for the new recreation district. Throughout the years the district has improved the lives of children, teenagers and adults through an enormous variety of different programs.
That being said. the district will celebrate their successes with a great holiday open house on December 5 after the end of the always-exciting Blue Jay Christmas Parade. The fun will be held at the district office on Hwy. 18 in Rimforest. The hours for this special event will be 2 to 5 p.m. at 26577 Hwy. 18.
For more information or to share ideas on how to help the district mark this special occasion log onto their website at: http://www.rim-rec.org or look at their Facebook page for all the details and the details on this big “birthday bash.”
The fun day will include free cookie decorating, free hot chocolate and coffee (always good after being bundled up at the parade) and a great look back as well as learning far more about programs available in the Rim communities.
