Always Incredible Arrowhead Home Tour Sept. 18 and 19

Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour tonight, Saturday, Nov. 3 or you'll be really "out of whack" all day tomorrow.

The clock is ticketing on time to purchase tickets for the upcoming Lake Arrowhead home Tour on This event has been held for many, many years and it has become one of the late-summer “have to be there” events and each year a few hundred people wander through the beautiful homes. Because this event enables guests to go from home to home (on their own) it’s great fun because you end up seeing people over and over again. Along the way guests who have been in one home tell upcoming guests about it so it’s not just a home tour but a great way to meet new friends.

This year’s tour will be held on September 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and tickets are available.

All guests tour the homes at their own pace and choosing throughout the day so everyone can go to the homes they’re most interested in seeing or they can get a peek at all the homes. Looking for some new decorating ideas? Take a small notebook and pen and be ready to take some notes on ideas for your own home.

For more information on this incredible, fun annual event contact the lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce at (909) 337-3715. The chamber of commerce office is located in Lake Arrowhead Village on the “lower level” near McDonald’s and the office looks directly out on the lake..

The Home Tour has been a Lake Arrowhead area occasion for many years and it has become one that attracts hundreds of locals as well as off-the-mountain visitors. If you’re thinking of redecorating or you need some new ideas for your home you won’t want to miss this home tour. Given a little “tweek or two” you can replicate many of the ideas that you are bound to glean while touring these great homes.

For further information contact the Lake Arrowhead Communities Chamber of Commerce. Their office is located on the lower level of Lake Arrowhead Village in Suite D-100.

Have fun! You’ll love every minute but be aware….you’re apt to go home and want to redecorate you house!

Have a hot car you want to enter? Have an oldie car you want to enter? Have a hot rod or classic car (after all, all cars are classic but some are more “classic” than others)? Is that coupe in your garage that’s getting tired of being “couped-up?” Well, get out there and enter you car. The entry fee is only $20. All the proceeds from this fun important event will go to support the outstanding organization, The Wounded Warrior Project. This organization is instrumental in helping our wounded warriors get help and support they need to recover, as much as possible, from the effects of the injuries they receive while serving our country.

As part of the fun the day will include a BBQ that you won’t soon forget. Those of us that live in Running Springs and go to Jensen’s when the outdoor BBQ is grilling can smell the delicious food roasting from across the street (or beyond). Bring your camera…you might be able to take a selfie of you and one of the hot cars and send it to your friends and relatives. They’ll think you’ve just won the lottery and bought yourself a hot new (or classic) car! (You can explain later!)

Running Springs Community Fun at Annual Halloween Romp

The beautiful Queen of Hearts.
The beautiful Queen of Hearts.

The always-fun and terrifically successful Halloween carnival in the  parking lot between the Robert Hootman Senior Community Center and Charles Hoffman Elementary School was filled with excited children and adults with the  elementary school’s PTA sponsored Fall Festival took place on Saturday, October 25.

I’m guessing that there were at least 150 children and their parents having wayyyyyyyy too much fun. The children and a  lot of PTA parents as well as local firefighters and representatives of local organizations and businesses seemed to be having the time of their lives. Each year  this event is always so much fun and it’s a toss up about who has more fun: the children or their parents.

Colorful Containers of candy sit in Hootman Center before the annual event began. I wonder how much was left...I'm betting not much!

In one form or another this celebration has been held at the school (or close to the school) literally for decades and one of the wonderful aspects of it is the continuation of the long-time tradition.

The hilarious "toilet paper" toss was so much fun. The target? Well, a toilet bowl, of course. Great fun!

A big “thank you” to all the people involved and to the school’s PTA and all the vendors or those who manned the colorful booths and helped make this festive occasion more memorable. A big “Thank You” to the Golden Oaks who welcome the children and adults if they stop in at the center.
