Mountain Fifes and Drums Thrills Shoppers at Running Springs Farmer’s Market

Fifes and drums leaderThe “Revolutionary War” came to Running Springs on Saturday when the members of the award-winning Mountain Fifes and Drums performed at the Running Springs Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Farmer’s Market. Needless to say, they were incredible and everyone including the vendors, the board members of the Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and all the spectators loved every second.

This talented group of specialized musicians is holding  a fundraising silent auction and dinner on September 27 at Church of the Woods in Lake Arrowhead. Tickets are only $12 and they include dinner and a fifes and drums concert. In case you’ve never heard them you need to attend this fundraiser. This small group of local fifes and drums musicians has garnered trophies wherever they entertain and this past July 24 they had the honor of performing at the 5th Marines Parade at Camp Pendleton.

In fact, they were one of only three fifes and drums corps who were chosen to participate in the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, Virginia and not surprisingly, it was a never to be forgotten experience for all the corps members, their families and for the original founders of the organization: Cindy Olsen and Kevin Garland.
