Many Thanks, Golden Oaks!

farmers_marketThe Running Springs Area Chamber of Commerce remains so grateful to the members of the Running Springs Golden Oaks for their generous support of the chamber of commerce sponsored “Farmer’s Market.”

The “senior” organization has donated $1,000 to help this community event and they did the same thing last year.

Formed in 1985 this group of “seniors” has helped the community over and over again so we thank them for their support.

Throughout the years the organization has donated to countless community events and organizations and I know each individual and/or group is grateful to the Golden Oaks for their donation.

Again, we thank them for their support!

Tired of wrapping presents? Not enough time to enjoy the holidays? Well, you’re in luck because the membesr of the Mountain Arts Network will be happy to wrap your gifts, right in Lake Arrowhead Village, and the donation you make will go directly to the Boys and Girls Club in Crestline. This is a “no-brainer.” Take your purchases to the store that is located between Papagayo’s Restaurant and Claire’s jewelry on the upper level of Lake Arrowhead Village.

Wrapping is available every Saturday and Sunday  through December 23 from noon to 4 p.m.

Isn’t this a great idea? You get to sit and have a cup of coffee (or have lunch at Papagayo’s) while the gifts you’ve purchased get wrapped (not rapped) by someone else. You make a donation and the proceeds go to the local club site. This is definitely a holiday “win-win” situation.

Rim Education Foundation Wants Your Old Cell Phones, etc.

Child And PhoneReady to throw your cell phone against the living room wall? Had it will your iPods and ready to drive over your digital camera with a cement truck? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions you need to donate your outdated electronics and purchase new ones.

I have a much better suggestion. Donate them t the Rim of the World Education Foundation. Now only will you get “rid” of them to move onto to something new but you’ll be support Rim students and schools and you’ll be helping the environment…..all at the same time. That doesn’t happen very often!

All donated cell phones, iPods and digital cameras will b recycled at this fundraiser and the money that is generated is used by the wonderful organization, the Rim Education Foundation, to support their mini-grant program for local  teachers. Each year the Rim Ed Foundation awards thousands of dollars worth of mini-grant programs to classroom teachers in the Rim of the World Unified School District. The awards are only given in the Rim School District. The slogan for the fundraising project is “Help Our Students and Schools” because the items taken to the school are recycled and the district receives the money. Cell phones,iPods and digital cameras are all welcome. district office in Blue Jay.

The funds that are generated from the donated items are used by the Rim Education Foundation to support the Mini-grant program for teachers as well as  AVID and other educational programs in the Rim Schools. Each year the Rim Ed Foundation dispenses thousands of dollars to teachers through their mini-grant program and they fund many other programs to help students.

Donation boxes can be found at each of the school sites as well as the district office in Blue Jay on Hwy. 189.
